KERR CAFETERIA
My team was initially given little direction other than to "go big" with the remodel of the largest cafeteria at UNT. We decided that the overarching message to the students would be, "You picked a great school, in a great town, in a great state. Here's why..." I directed the creative development of the project and designed a number of pieces myself.
Five famous UNT alumni and their biographies are featured on these larger-than-life acrylic screens.
An abridged history of Denton adorns a wall behind custom-built bench seats. It is flanked by 7 foot tall acrylic screens featuring photos from the Denton archives. The ceiling was painted, antique-looking light fixtures were installed, and the floor was stripped to the concrete to complete the historic look.
Serving lines were reconstructed to simulate key buildings in downtown Denton.
A vintage Texas road map was enlarged to highlight key Texas cities.
These custom-made neon signs recall Denton's industrial heritage.
MEAN GREENS
This was a traditional college cafeteria that was "converted" into a 100% vegan cafeteria. To highlight this change, the walls of the entrance and entire seating area were covered with graphics promoting healthy, plant-based diets.
KHUSH ROTI
Khush Roti is a sandwich shop housed in this 8' x 20' trailer. Its sandwiches are influenced by various national cuisines and the graphics tell the story of travelers traversing the globe in search of culinary inspiration. It was awarded Best Retail Concept in 2011 by the National Association of College & University Food Services.
UNCLE BILL & CHARLIE RAY
These posters were created for the walls of West Cafeteria, which specializes in Southern-style comfort food.
MILK 4 U
These designs were used to re-face milk dispensers in the cafeterias at the University of North Texas.
